Sangah beat Faith Chess Club by 3-1 points. Reigning champion Bangladesh Biman beat Sonali Bank Sports & Recreation Club by 3½-½ points. GM Zaiur Rahman, GM Abdullah Al Rakib, FM Abu Sufian Shakil of Biman beat Gyesuddin Ahmed Mithu, Din Mohammad and Mahbubur Rahman of Sonali Bank respectively. Somak Palit of Sonali Bank drew with FM Mehdi Hasan Parag of Biman. Reigning runners-up Leonine Chess Club beat Sultana Kamal Smiriti Pathagar by 4-0 points. 1st Division Chess League: Round 1
The games of the 1st Division Chess League-2007 began yesterday (Wednesday) at Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room. 14 teams are participating in the tournament, which is being held in round robin system. Reigning champion Bangladesh Biman beat reigning runners-up Leonine Chess Club by 2½-1½ points in their 1st round game. GM Ziaur Rahman of Biman drew with Indian GM Neelotpal Das of Leonine. GM Abdullah Al Rakib of Biman beat FM Kh. Aminul Islam of Leonine, Abdul Maleq of Leonine beat FM Mehdi Hasan Parag of Biman and FM Abu Sufian Shakil of Biman beat Mainuddin Ahmed of Leonine. Destiny 2000 Limited drew with Chittagong Mohammadan Sporting Club by 2-2 points. IM Enamul Hossain Razib of Destiny beat IM Roktim Bandyopadhyay of Chittagong Mohammadan, FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman of Chittagong Mohammadan beat FM Taibur Rahman of Destiny. FM Sk. Nasir Ahmed and Mohammad Javed of Destiny drew accordingly with Indian IM Saprathi Roy and Md. Ali Chittagong Mohammadan. Final standing of Commonwealth Chess
GM Abdulla Al Rakib became 9th with 7.5 points in the Parsvnath Commonwealth Chess Championships which was held in New Delhi from 3-10 December.GM Niaz Murshed became 11th with same point. Another Bangladeshi GM Reefat Bin Sattar became 29th with 6.5 points. FM Kh. Aminul Islam became 95th with 5.5 points and IWM Rani Hamid 209th with 4 points. GM Ramesh R B of India became champion with 8.5 points.
8th Special National Chess Tournament
Ajgor Ali became unbeaten champion in the Grameenphone 8th National SpecialChess Tournament-2007, sponsored by Grameenphone Ltd and organised By Bangladesh Braille Chess Society. Ajgor earned maximum 7 points to clinch the title. Last year champion Kamal Hossain became runner-up and Md Nazmul beacame 3rd.Kamal and Nazmul earned 7 points each. Commonwealth Chess: result after round 5
GM Reefat Bin Sattar earned 4.5 points afer end of the 5th round of Commonwealth Chess Championship.GM Abdulla Al-Rakib earned 4 points.GM Niaz Murshed and FM Kh. Commonwealth Chess Championship-2007
The games of the Commonwealth Chess Championship will start from 3rd December in Delhi, India. 5 Bangladesh players are participating in the tournament.
