Mohona Champion in girl's section


Mohona Sengupta of Binodini Girls High School became unbeaten champion in the girl's section of the 10th Standard Chartered School Chess Tournament.She earned 6 points after end of the 7th round games to clinch the title. Last year girls champion Shaati Majumder of Indira Gandhi Memorial became runner-up with same points. 5 players earned 5 points each.Diotima Dutta Gupta of Vidyabahroty Girls High School became 3rd, Arna Sarkar of Kolkata Methodist School became 4th, Shiny Das of Tripura became 5th, Yeon Sarkar of Central Girls High School became 6th and Sabikun Nahar of Vikharunnesa School and Collage became 7th.In the last round: Mohona drew with Diotima, Shaati drew with Arna, Sabikun beat Reshma, Shiny beat Protiba and Yeon beat Gulfesha. Abhropratim Manna of Kolkata is maintaining his solo lead with maximum 8 points in the points table after end of the 8th round games in Class VI to X Group. Abhropratim confirmed his championship with 1 more round to go. Abdullah Al Saif of Quality Educational School is in 2nd position with 7 points. Aditya Chakraborty and Sayan Majumder of India are maintaining their lead in the points table with 7½ points each in group KG to V. after end of the 8th round games. Mohammad Famim of Titas School, Fahad Rahman of Madhupur, Emon Hossain Santa and Afzal of Aporajeyo Bangladesh and Mitrobha Guha of Kolkata are in 2nd position with 6 points each.In the 8th round: VI to X group: Aubhropratim beat Asim, Saif beat Babu, Nikesh beat Sifat, Rana beat Ejaj, Abir beat Siffat Hossain, Arnab beat Raju and Tarek beat Ashraful. KG to V Group: Aditya beat Santa, Sayan beat Badhon, Fahim beat Rifatul, Afjal beat Soham and Fahad beat Mokshed. 9th or last round games of KG to V and VI to X Groups boys will start today (Wednesday) from 11:00 AM at the same venues. The prize giving ceremony will be held from 5:00 PM at the conference-room of National Sports Council. Honorable Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed will distribute prizes among the winners.
