Kolkata Open 07 Grandmasters Chess Tournament

GM Niaz Murshed got 17th and GM Ziaur Rahman became 26th position in the Kolkata Open 07- Grandmaster Chess Tournament, organized by Alekhine Chess Club which was held at Gorky Sadan, Kolkata. Niaz and Zia earned 6 points each after end of the 10th or last round games. IM Enamul Hossain Razib became 33rd with 5½ points, IM Abdullah Al Rakib became 42nd, FM Mehdi Hasan Parag became 45th and FM Abu Sufian Shakil became 48th with 5 points each and Debaraj Chatterjee became 78th with 3 points. 10th round games were held yesterday (Tuesday). In the 10th round Niaz beat Aditya Udeshi, Zia drew with IM Arun Prasad of India, Razib drew with IM Arghyadip Das of India, Parag lost against GM Adely Ahmed of Egypt. GM Tigran Petroshian of Armenia became champion with 8 points and GM Sergey Tiviakov became runner-up with 7½ points. Total 86 players including 20 grandmasters from 16 countries participated in the event.

GM Ziaur Rahman earned 5½ points each after end of the 9th round games in the Kolkata Open 07- Grandmaster Chess Tournament being organized by Alekhine Chess Club is now being held at Gorky Sadan, Kolkata. IM GM Niaz Murshed, IM Abdullah Al Rakib, Enamul Hossain Razib, FM Abu Sufian Shakil & FM Mehdi Hasan Parag earned 5 points each and Debaraj Chatterjee earned 3 points after end of the 9th round. 9th round games were held yesterday (Monday). In the 9th round Zia drew with IM Girinath of India, Razib drew with Himanshu Sharma of India, Rakib drew with IM Roktim Bandyopadhyay of India, Niaz drew with IM Venkatesh of India, Parag beat IM Saptarshi Roy Chowdhury of India, Shakil beat Vidit Santosh of India and Debarah lost to Sayantan Das. GM Tigran Petroshian of Armenia is now solo lead with 7½
points after end of the 9th round games.

GM Ziaur Rahman earned 5 points each after end of the 8th round games in the Kolkata Open 07- Grandmaster Chess Tournament being organized by Alekhine Chess Club is now being held at Gorky Sadan, Kolkata. IM GM Niaz Murshed, IM Abdullah Al Rakib & Enamul Hossain Razib earned 4½ points, FM Abu Sufian Shakil & FM Mehdi Hasan Parag earned 4 points each and Debaraj Chatterjee earned 3 points after end of the 8th round. 8th round games were held yesterday (Sunday). In the 8th round Zia beat IM Saptarshi Roy of India, Razib beat Preetham Sharma of India, Rakib lost against GM Mikheil Kekelidze of Georgia, Niaz lost against GM Uldachev Saidali of Uzbekistan, Shakil drew with IM Dinesh Kumar Sharma of India, Parag beat Satyajit Kunda of India and Debaraj beat Diptayan Ghosh of India. 7th round games were
held last Saturday. In the 7th round Rakib drew with Niaz, Zia beat WGM Nisha Mohota of India, Shakil beat Shashikant of India, Razib lost against IM Girinath of India, Parag lost against Rathnakaran of India and Debaraj lost against Sauorabh of India.

IM Enamul Hossain Razib earned 2½ points after end of the 3rd round of theKolkata Open 07- Grandmaster Chess Tournament being organized by AlekhineChess Club is now being held at Gorky Sadan, Kolkata. GM Niaz Murshedearned 2 points and IM Abdullah Al Rakib and FM Abu Sufian Shakil earned 1½points each, GM Ziaur Rahman, FM Mehdi Hasan Parag and Debaraj Chatterjeeearned 1 points each after end of the 3rd round. 3rd round games were heldyesterday (Tuesday). In the 3rd round Razib beat Shakil, Zia beat P. Priyaand Debaraj beat Krishna. Niaz lost against GM Tigran Petrosian of Armenia,Rakib lost against Rathnakaran of India and Parag lost Against IM D. P.Singh of India. 3 garndmasters Tiviakov from Netherland, Petrosian ofArmenia and Alon Greenfeld of Israel are sharing lead in the points tablewith maximum 3 points each after end of the 3rd round.

Fide Master Mehdi Hasan Parag of Bangladesh caused the biggest upset of the day when he got a quick victory against Grandmaster Oliver Renet of France in the first round of the Kolkata Open 07- Grandmaster Chess Tournament being organized by Alekhine Chess Club at Gorky Sadan, Kolkata. The games of the event begun from yesterday (Sunday). Total 86 players including 21 grandmasters, 23 International Masters, 4 Women Grandmasters, 1 Women International Masters and 6 FIDE Masters from 16 countries are participating in the event. GM Niaz Murshed won his first round game. IM Enamul Hossain Razib, IM Abdullah Al Rakib and FM Abu Sufian Shakil drew with their 1st round game. GM Ziaur Rahman lost his 1st round game against Somok Palit of India. The event will be held in a 10 round Swiss-League system. Leading players of the event GM Sergey Tiviakov from Netherlands, GM Sadvakasov from Kazakistan, GM Levan Pantsulaia of Georgia, and GM Surya Sekhar Ganguly are also participating.

The games of the Kolkata Open 07 Grandmasters Chess Tournament will start from today (Sunday) at the Gorkey Sadan at Kolkata, India organsied by Alekhine Chess Club. 21 grandmasters, 23 International Masters, 4 Women Grandmasters, 1 Women International Masters and 6 FIDE Masters from 16 countries are participating in the event. 6 players from Bangladesh are participating in the event. They are: GM Ziaur Rahman, GM Niaz Murshed, IM Enamul Hossain Razib, IM Abdullah Al Rakib, FM Abu Sufian Shakil and FM Mehdi Hasan Parag. The event will be held in a 10 round Swiss-League system. GM Sergey Tiviakov from Netherlands, GM Sadvakasov from Kazakistan and GM Surya Sekhar Ganguly are also participating. Two thousand US dollars will given as prize money to the winners.
