The event is being held for the birth-anniversary of former World Chess Champion late Mikhail Tal (1936-1992), who was also known as magician of the chess board as he was able to create attack on opponent's king out of nothing. Another former World Champion, Max Euwe declared:"Tal is an exceptional appearance in the chess arena. You better believe me: I've seen a lot of talented chess players in my long career, so I know it" His style is described as 'displaying an execptionally combinative, resourceful and spontaneous power, Tal took his opponent by surprise, harassed him with unsolvable problems, never ceasing to be confident and optimistic, finally won!' His games are fascinating, full of light and optimism, they display confidence in his talent and in the beauty of the chess. Tal himself is alike: cheerful, witty, self-confident. Was Tal an enigma? judging by his style, the impetous and unexpected sacrifices, his extraordinary courage and surprising fantasy he might have been. Grand Master Panov, referring to Tal, once said "each diamond must be polished". No, Tal cannot be polished up. Tal is unique, he is...just Tal
